FISHING TOURISM | TRAWLING
Activity Description :
Historically, trawling has been the most common type of fishing in the Port of Roses. This system is used to catch fish and crustaceans that live on the bottom of sea along the Mediterranean coast, down to depths of around 900 m. Fishing grounds, or caladors, have been passed down from fathers to sons and updated with the use and introduction of new technologies.
This activity begins at 7 am with the spectacular departure of all the boats in line from the end of the port.
On the tour, we'll enjoy the wonderful landscapes of the northern Costa Brava, up to Cap de Creus, while taking in the impressive sunrise over the sea.
Over the course of the day, we'll get to see the fishermen's daily routine, as well as hear anecdotes and learn about the customs of life on the sea.
Between casting and pulling in the nets, we'll have breakfast and share a typical fisherman's communal lunch on the fishing boat itself.
Finally, we'll get the chance to experience the harvesting of the fish, hoping that a good fishing ground will fill the boxes with prawns, langoustines, sole, monkfish, squid...
The day ends with the traditional sale of the fresh fish of the day at the fish market, the Llotja de la Confradia in Roses.
