FISHING TOURISM | SMALL-SCALE FISHING
Small-scale fishing, in vessels with 1-4 workers, make it possible to share the fisherman's daily routine in a very up-close and personal way. Small-scale fishing methods include: tremall, or trammel nets, palangre, or longline fishing and tallarina, or shellfishing All these are used by fishermen from Roses.
This activity follows the coastline, taking in the spectacular Cap de Creus and Bay of Roses, ranked one of the world's most beautiful bays. We will see the impressive sunrise over the sea.
Tremall is a very old fishing method that uses different types of nets depending on the season and type of fishing. All kinds of fish are caught using nets, in addition to crustaceans and molluscs such as apple murex.
The Roses tallarina, a small mollusc, is one of the most prized treasures from the sea, and traditional systems are still used to fish for them. The activity is done in small vessels close to the shore in sandy areas, making it one of the most enjoyable days to spend alongside the fisherman.
Palangre, or longline fishing, is one of the most selective fishing methods in terms of what is caught. Migratory fish such as bonito, tuna and swordfish can be caught depending on the season, as well as rockfish, poor-cod and the famous Costa Brava longline hake.
